About the Palkhi
In the year 1968 Shri Gajanan Maharaj Foundation started the tradition of a palanquin procession on foot covering a total distance of approximately 1300 kilometres. Shegaon to Pandharpur is 750 km and the return journey is around 550 km covered in a relatively shorter time. The palanquin procession reaches Pandharpur each year on the 11th lunar day of the Hindu month of Ashadha (Ashadhi Ekadashi). Hope you find this information useful.
